Can I use my IRC client on NerdLeaf?

Yes. Type /server irc.nerdleaf.com 7000

What is JungleSpot and why did it kick/ban me from a room?

JungleSpot is our server moderator robot. It is designed to keep the rooms safe from flooding, swearing, spamming, and many other forms of abuse. If it asks you for your age, it is asking simply because it is doing a check to see if you are old enough to be in a certain room. It will only ban you if you repeatedly use forbidden words in rooms, or if you are too old or young to be in a room.

 
I can't connect to the chat, it says I'm banned, what happened?

You could have been banned for many reasons. Most likely you, or someone in your household has neglected to read or follow our rules on the terms of use page. Your ban might be temporary, or permanent depending on the rule or rules you have broken. If you feel the ban was unjust or accidental, you can contact us.
 

What's a proxy, and why does it say I'm banned because of it?

A proxy is an IP address that people connect through in order to conceal his/her identity. We block them in order to keep the server and its users safe from:

• Spam
• Flooders
• Harassment
• Ban evasion
• Abusive users
• Malicious software

If you were not using a proxy, our proxy scanners probably detected that you were infected with malware that allowed people to use your IP as a proxy. Please go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ to scan your computer for malware.
 

How old do I have to be to sign up on NerdLeaf?

You have to be 13 years old or older to chat on NerdLeaf. Anyone younger than 13 will automatically be banned. No exceptions. Certain rooms allow only people of certain ages to chat in them. For example, in #AdultsChat you have to be 18 or older to join. For #TeenChat you can't be older than 19 years old. Anyone older than 19 found in the #TeenChat channel will automatically be removed from the room.
